I have issues with celebrities and how people treat them.

Tonight while walking on Main Street to get a free dinner (three cheers for full time volunteers getting grub stubs!), there was a huge group of people on the sidewalk by the Acura Studio. There were bodyguards by the door. Someone told me a handful of celebrities were inside, and were starting to leave the building. All around were people with smartphones and cameras in hand, waiting, guessing who was in there. I shook my head and left.

Why didn’t I stay? Because I looked into that celebrity’s shoes, and I thought, “Would I want crowds of people waiting for me to do something as minute as walking out of a building? What’s so special about that?” I understand this person chose to be in the “spotlight,” but must we be so rude as to crowd them? I wanted to be that one less person outside those doors.

But that sorta didn’t happen, because when I walked down the street with dinner in hand, Celebrity (no, I’m not going to say their name) just so happened to step out. Clearly people are watching too much E! News and whatnot, for they became a group of paparazzos. They yelled Celebrity’s name. They tried to get closer with their iPhones. And what should’ve taken three seconds from the door to the car, lasted half a minute thanks to the thirty idiots on the sidewalk.

I may post pictures of celebrities on tumblr and think they’re gorgeous and talented and all that jazz, but I’m not going to bombard them in public, because I would never want that for myself. A person’s a person no matter their popularity. Putting people on pedestals doesn’t mean to disrespect them as a human being.
